5 Book-Inspired Date Ideas

One of the highest recommended tips for a good date night is choosing an activity that you both enjoy. But what happens if one of your partner’s favorite hobbies is reading? This seems much harder a concept to transform into a mutual romantic night. I have collected some fun and special ideas that will be sure to sweep your bookish lover off their feet. They will be touched at the planning and personalization you put into your night and will have the time of their life doing something they love with you.

#1 The Themed Dinner

Does your better half have a favorite book that they have read a million times? Are they enraptured with a period piece or a foreign beauty? If there is a special book with notable foods on their favorites list, this may be the perfect recipe for a super special evening. There are many online or physical copies of recipes from popular books. Making them a meal that is very similar to one in their favorite novel is both fun and special.

Just remember, presentation is key for you. Set up their dinner nicely, with themed decor if possible. This is not a TV dinner! It is a great time to put on some music, choose a different location than where you usually eat, and even dress up if that is something you guys enjoy. Whether it is a hearty Harry Potter feast or a delicate Jane Eyre supper, this is an evening guaranteed to be a success!

#2 Trivia Night

If your partner delights in being the know-it-all of the book club, this activity will be fun and simple for them! Many libraries hold trivia nights, as well as community centers and such. It is a simple and fun way to spend the evening. You can make it a night and add a dinner onto the agenda or allow it to be a stand-alone event!

If you want to stay in, plenty of online options can be just as fun to do together! You can hook it up to the TV to add atmosphere and enjoy from your couch. If you are not a literature nut yourself, do not worry. Your beloved will enjoy your silly guesses and feel special knowing that you chose this activity just for them. Stay in the competition and have fun!

#3 The Bookstore Visit

There is nothing like the smell of a new book. Even better is the smell of hundreds of new books collected together. A bookstore is one of the best places to spend relaxation time. I have never met a reader who does not drink in every second they spend in one. You guys can browse through books together, point out funny-looking books or interesting ones, sit down and read together, or just walk around and talk.

Many bookstores have a coffee shop inside of them. This is a great and sweet option to add to your plan and something I recommend researching ahead of time to ensure you have access to it. And of course, the best way to top it off is by surprising your special date with the choice of any book to take home. This is a super fun treat that means so much more at a bookstore where they find encouragement to try something new or get a nice copy of a good novel. It definitely beats Amazon!

#4 The Bookish Location

It is a little known fact how many museums and tribute locations there are for great pieces of literature. They are scattered everywhere, sometimes in the most seeming obscure locations. I have seen an Anne Frank museum in Florida, a To Kill a Mockingbird spot in Alabama, and a Gone With the Wind museum in Georgia.

This is a super great thing to research for your area. You will be completely surprised by the results! It is an expensive and personalized outing that can give you some fun new information and will excite your book-obsessed date. There are also plenty of monuments and tribute locations that can be a fun place to stop on a drive and can add a special touch to even the most mundane day.

#5 The Perfect Recreation

Is there a literary couple your dearest is obsessed with? A romance novel they simply cannot do without? A side of the love triangle they cannot get away from? This is one of the most special and sweet options you can do for them. The premise is easy, and while it may take a minute to plan effectively, I promise it is worth the time investment.

All you have to do is find a romantic scene or date from their special book and recreate it. Location, props, costumes, activities can all be taken into account. You get to choose how serious it is and how exact. You guys can plan it together, or (my personal favorite) you can make it a complete surprise. It will certainly make them feel loved and valued.

I hope this gives you some fun and romantic options to choose from. As long as you plan with your date in mind, there is nothing they can do but feel loved and cared for. I wish you luck as you try your hand at spreading the love.
